Warner/Chappell Music Signs Worldwide Publishing Agreement With LeToya
In making the announcement, Chris Hicks, Senior Vice President, Urban A&R and Head of Urban Music, Warner/Chappell Music, said, "LeToya has emerged as a powerhouse solo artist who is not only a remarkable singer and performer, but an outstanding songwriter as well. We are very excited to have such a great talent join the Warner/Chappell family."
LeToya added, "I am thrilled to work with Warner/Chappell and I look forward to continue working with their incredible lineup of Urban songwriters and producers."
LeToya co-wrote 11 of the 15 tracks on her self-titled album released in July 2006, including her first hit single, "Torn," which was co-written with fellow Warner/Chappell writer Teddy Bishop. The album, her first solo effort since departing from the R&B group Destiny's Child in 2000, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop album charts and was the only album from a new R&B artist in 2006 that achieved Gold status.
"LeToya" features songs co-written and produced by Warner/Chappell songwriters and producers on 13 of the album's 15 tracks including artists Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Dave Young, Jazzy Pha, Kayla Shelton, and Bryan Michael Cox. In addition, samples of three Warner/Chappell songs were included on her album.
As an original member of Destiny's Child, LeToya co-wrote the group's signature Gold-certified songs "Bills Bills Bills" and "Say My Name," for which the group received two Grammy Awards in 2001. LeToya remained with the group for seven years and appeared on two albums including the worldwide hit "The Writing's On the Wall," which has been certified eight times platinum in the U.S. alone.
LeToya is currently in the studio working on her highly anticipated follow-up album, which is expected to again feature collaborations with Warner/Chappell songwriters and producers.
