Gettin' In Over My Head Features Guest Appearances By Eric Clapton, Elton John, Paul Mccartney, And Carl Wilson

13-Track Disc Arrives In Stores June 22

He's been called the most influential songwriter of the past century-with good reason. Over the course of his career, creative genius Brian Wilson has penned and produced some of the greatest pop rock songs of all time. Today the man who put the Beach Boys into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is thriving once again, making music that's both timely and timeless. On June 22, Wilson will add another chapter to his incredible story with the release of Gettin' In Over My Head, his first new studio album since 1998's critically acclaimed Imagination.

Written and produced by Wilson, Gettin' In Over My Head (Rhino) features guest appearances by Eric Clapton ("City Blues"), Elton John ("How Can We Still Be Dancin'?"), and Paul McCartney ("A Friend Like You"). The highly anticipated album also includes the harmony-laden "Soul Searchin,'" featuring Carl Wilson--Brian took Carl's lead vocal from an earlier session and recorded a new backing track with his band. He then sang the bridge and all the background harmonies himself, resulting in a heartfelt duet with his late brother. "Soul Searchin' " is just one of several songs on the album written earlier but never completed until now. The title track and "Desert Drive' offer fans their first chance to hear the fruits of a mid-'90s collaboration between Wilson and producer Andy Paley.

Gettin' In Over My Head arrives exactly 40 years after Wilson cowrote and produced the Beach Boys' first #1 hit, "I Get Around," and will be available at all retail outlets on June 22 for a suggested retail price of $18.98. The disc's artwork was designed by Peter Blake, best known for creating one of the most recognizable album covers in rock history, 1967's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

In addition to a European summer tour this year (where Wilson will debut many of the songs from Gettin' In Over My Head), the legendary singer-songwriter will also be honored with the BMI Icon Award later this year, making him the first songwriter to be honored with both a BMI Icon and President's Award, which he received in 1995.
