Johnathan Rice Confirmed To Support The Cardigans

04/21/04

New EP Available Now

Scottish born, Brooklyn-based songwriter Johnathan Rice has completed recording his debut full-length album entitled Trouble Is Real, which will be released by Reprise Records, later this year. Trouble Is Real was recorded at Presto Studio in Lincoln, Nebraska and produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, The Faint, Rilo Kiley, etc.). Guest contributions include Amy Correia, various Saddle Creek alumni and Mogis himself. The fifteen original songs on the record cover a lot of sonic territory: from Appalachian-inspired folk ballads to psychedelically laced pop, to full-on, punk-influenced rock & roll and beyond. Trouble Is Real is an ambitious and intelligent record that will appeal to fans of emotionally charged, literate, modern music.

Following a series of residencies in New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia, Rice has accepted an offer to support The Cardigans on their upcoming US tour during the month of May.

A special 6-song EP titled Extended Player-24:26, will be on sale at each of these shows and available on his website and online digital retailers. The EP will preview new tracks from his upcoming debut album Trouble Is Real.
