Jason Mraz Plays Acoustic Tour, Helps Feed Local Food Bank

Virginia native, Jason Mraz, is returning to Washington, D.C. on May 27, 2004 at the D.A.R. Constitution Hall for "The Tour of the Curbside Prophets," a special cross-country concert series that will showcase individual and intertwining acoustic sets by Jason Mraz and his diverse line-up of supporting artists, including acclaimed Manhattan singer/guitarist Raul Midon, Hawaiian slack-key guitarist/vocalist Makana and DJ Bob Neck Snapp.

"The Tour of the Curbside Prophets," which gets its name from Mraz's new single 'Curbside Prophet' off of his Elektra debut album Waiting For My Rocket To Come selling nearly 1 Million Albums, will offer a street corner atmosphere inspired by Mraz's early days as a hard-working street musician. "Our little street corner on stage will become the crossroads of the world for artists from all over the world- exceptional musicians who will open their guitar cases to 'busk' for you," says Jason Mraz.

Along with an eclectic evening of music, Jason Mraz is also hosting the 2004 "(Never) Too Much Food" Food Drive, which gives fans an opportunity to help their local community by donating non-perishable goods to support the Capital Area Food Bank in Washington, D.C. Food drive volunteers will be excepting donations from 5:30pm through 8pm in the lobby of the D.A.R. Constitution Hall.

Coordinated by Jason Mraz, Bill Silva Management and several volunteers in local areas, the 2004 "(Never) Too Much Food" Food Drives are being held in select cities nationwide.

The Jason Mraz "Never Too Much Food" Food Drives were extremely successful in 2003, gathering almost 10,000 pounds of food for the less fortunate all over the nation.

"I often get asked and even commended about the food drives, and I remind them that it really isn't me who's doing it. It's the (volunteers) beside us and the fans and friends who participate by donating food at our shows," adds Mraz.
